چکیده
of rheumatic mitral stenosis 20 years previously. The patient was readmitted for treatment of idiopathic fever. On admission, slight fever (37.2°C), blood pressure of 121/96 mmHg, and a pulse rate of 68 beats/min were recorded. Auscultation of the heart produced a metallic click sound without significant murmur. On blood tests, white blood cell count and serum C-reactive protein were elevated, at 10,200/μl and 4.9 mg/dl, eft atrial (LA) dissection is a fissure extending from the mitral or tricuspid annulus to the interatrial septum or LA wall, creating a new chamber.1 LA dissection is rare but has been reported in approximately 0.8% of patients following mitral valve replacement (MVR).2 MVR was performed in a 72-year-old Japanese man using a 31-mm St. Jude Medical (SJM) prosthetic valve for treatment L

Dissection of intima on atrial septum patch after mitral valve replacement in a patient with infective endocarditis after incomplete atrio-ventricular septal defect repair: report of a case.
We encountered a very rare lesion, which included a dissection between a prosthetic patch for repair of an incomplete atrio-ventricular septal defect (AVSD) and a pseudo-intima which had developed. This is the first report of a dissection between an atrial septum patch and pseudo-intima after mitral valve replacement (MVR) in a patient with infective endocarditis following an incomplete AVSD re...
متن کاملProsthetic valve endocarditis caused by multidrug-resistant Candida albicans in a patient with myelodysplasia syndrome: A case report and literature review
Background and Purpose: Candida endocarditis is an infrequent disease with a high mortality rate, which commonly occurs in immunosuppressed patients with cardiac valve replacement. We reported a 70-year-old woman diagnosed with Candida prosthetic valve endocarditis (PVE). This study also involved a review of all published cases of Candida PVE from 1970. Case report: Herein, we reported a 70-ye...

M yocardial infarction secondary to coronary embolization is infrequently encountered. Approximately 100 cases have l)een reported with the majority being associated with bacterial endocarditis or syphilis.’ Other causes are paradoxic embolization from atrial or ventricular mural thrombi, avulsed tissue or tumor2 and mitral stenosis with atrial fibrillation. a Coronary embolization has also bee...

A 21-year-old man with Marfan syndrome with aortic and mitral mechanical prosthetic valve presented with a type-3 aortic dissection. A successful endovascular aortic repair with graft stent was performed. On the fifth day of admission, he was uneventfully discharged. But ten days later, he represented with dyspnoea, high fever (39.2°C) and chills. He had a 4/6 diastolic murmur at aortic point i...
متن کاملParavalvular leak of a mechanical mitral valve prosthesis associated with Burkholderia cepacia subacute endocarditis: a rare case successfully treated by multidisciplinary approach
Prosthetic valve endocarditis (PVE) represents an uncommon and very serious complication after heart valve surgery. Prosthetic valve endocarditis occurs in 1% to 6% of patients with valve prostheses and affects both mechanical and biological valves [1]. Up to 34% of all cases of infective endocarditis involve prosthetic heart valves. Prosthetic valve endocarditis represents a nosographic entity...
